Hey Gang

Friday YAY! You know what that means for me?
Karate Training tonight (Special), and Karate tomorrow. And then after Karate go to sister's place downtown for a weekend of Pizza, Diet Coke, and Movies. Looking forward to that.

Funny Karate moment last night. A few of them actually.

At the start of Warm Ups we were told to line up on one side of the gym. I was standing there at the side and Harvey comes along and gives me a wee little push and laughs "Black Belt coming through". I looked at him and said "I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too" In my best wicked witch voice. And then I ran. We were doing sprints back and forth.

We were doing Sprints and Harvey had to stop to do some stretching. He was sitting on the floor right near the lines. I was doing Sprints and came sprinting to the side that Harvey was on and coming towards him at top speed and said loud enough that he could hear "No brakes". Harvey actually dodged out of the way. Honest I was not going to run him over.

We have a lot of fun at Karate.

@avabird, the christmas scenes on ornaments have both aussie bush scenes, snow, heaps of different ones for all!

i jammed my finger in the door the other day! What a silly thing to do I hear you say! Too right! It is swollen alittle & it looks "pretty"!

Hello all!!!

Since no one has posted, I'll just add to this one!
It's Thursday morning now!
Still warm, but supposed to cool down after weekend.

Have to go see the vampire, I mean, doctor, for bloodwork this morning. Just routine. Finally got round to picking a doctor, so of course they want to poke and prod me. I'm one of those people that doesn't do well with seeing blood coming out of me. Okay, that's probably too graphic!!! Haven't had coffee or food, so not a lot of control over what I"m saying at the mo.

Hi, AL, Carsy & Nanook.

I am having a very frustrating week at work. Head Office has changed the way the monthly reports (that I fillout) are supposed to be done and it is driving me crazy. Some days it feels like they just sit up there in the Big Main office thinking up ways to make it more difficult for the small local offices. Thankfully my boss is very understanding. She thinks Head Office can be crazy at times as well.


Other then that things are good. This saturday tickets go on sale for Jan 2010 BLUE RODEO concert. Nancy, Gwen and I are going to it. This will be the fifth time I have seen them.

@avabird, hope things go well at the doctors.

@Scary, What exactly is a "Blue Rodeo" concert? Have a blast in Jan!


Yesterday it was 38c so freakin hot! I was happy I didn't have to go to work. Hoping today is cooler.

Today I saw a news story about a heat wave DownUnder. It sounds like it is going to be a hot summer for you guys.

Thanks everyone. I don't have any bruising from the needle. I think it's the first time ever. I liked the people and the new doctor very well. Changing doctors is just one of those things that I hate and dread.

Scary -- I understand.. Hubby has to put up with that kind of stuff too. Just part of working in the corporate world nowadays, I think. But very stressful. That is a plus that you have an understanding boss.

AL -- Hope you can stay cool. I have enjoyed our chats on FB, even if you are usually in the future. It's still in the high 70s here; doesn't feel like November to me at all! When I took my dog out this morning, I saw 2 dandelions blooming. To me, that's just weird. Dandelions are July and August flowers; most flowers don't still bloom in November even as far south as Georgia.

It's weird because Texas is both warmer and colder than Georgia. Only one more week till I come to Georgia! Very excited to see friends and family. Also, I will finally get to see my great-nephew Max in person.

Hiya Gang

Did you miss me? Sorry but I have been hard at work Training hard for my next Karate Belt. I am doing the usual 4 times a week, and Training after Class as well. This next Belt is a little harder but I am 90% confident in the stuff I need to do. So things are looking good.

Thursday after Class I went to Pub Night with the Gang and had a lot of fun. We're doing monthly Pub Nights. It was a lot of fun.

Well this Karateka is pretty tired so I am heading to bed.

Morning squirrels!

Just thought i'd pop in before work. Yesterday was a scorcher! 40 degrees!!! I was happy I didn't have to go to work cause I have mondays off. I was hanging the washing out yesterday & I saw a "Huntsman" spider! Naturally I freaked out because I am so scared by them. So I took off in the other direction & came back inside.

@carsy, it was even hotter yesterday 40 degrees.

@avabird, have fun in Georgia!

@Fran, glad your still loving karate.

Well I must be off to work now. I hope its cooler today!

Only two days now before we heard to Georgia. Am getting excited about seeing my family. Haven't seen them since the beginning of July. But not looking forward to the journey. Also, there will be mountains! I seem to miss them the most. Texas has some mountains, just not close to us.

Scruff -- We have been making tied fleece blankets for Christmas presents. Has that craze hit the crafty in the UK yet? Also, after next week, we will be making our costumes for the Christmas event at our church.

Hi Ava, if you mean cutting a fringe around two pieces of fleece and tying the fringes together, then yes I have seen some of those. Most folks just do a blanket stitch around the edge of the fleece if they do anything at all.

We have started to get the mothers coming in for fabric for costumes now. We had one young boy today who was going to be something in brown fur fabric! Not sure what kind of animal he was going to be! There have also been numerous students buying animal print fabrics for their 'cave raves'! No doubt we will get the shepherds, kings and angels in soon!

41 degrees celcius today!!! Hot hot hot! Time for a rain dance!

Scruff -- Yes, that is the type of blanket I'm talking about. We have to complete one more today. It's not that hard, but quite time consuming tying all those knots!! But it looks very pretty.
Cave Rave -- haven't heard of that!
Me and my girls are just villager types. Our church does a drive-through show in the parking lot with different scenes from the life of Jesus. So far there are 500+ cast members!! But it still looks like it's going to be fun, but probably cold too! It is scheduled for the 2nd weekend in December.

AL -- *does squirrel rain dance for Aussie squirrels* Are there drought conditions yet? It seems every summer lately both Georgia and Texas have been so dry and hot that droughts have been declared.

We leave tomorrow; don't know if I will be able to get on computer any through next weekend. So everyone have a great week!

The temperature has dropped down to about 20 degrees which i'm glad about!
The phone I ended up buying was alot cheaper than the one I was originally gonna get. It has exactly the same features & it was $300 cheaper so I'm happy!

Finally got my phone fixed this morning......seems someone had actually cut the wires outside the house!! When the phone guy told me that I almost said to him that that sort of thing only happens on tv!

Also managed to get a fair bit of sewing done this weekend so I am still on course for getting it all done for Christmas at the moment.

The weather here has been wet and windy but at least here in the south we haven't had the floods there have been in the north of the country.

I have got a swollen elbow - not sure what I have done to it. I first noticed it at work on Saturday. It hasn't got any worse, but it hasn't got any better either. I'll give it another couple of days before I call the doctor I think.

Right, time for a quick trip over to The Sandpit before bedtime!
